Hermann de Jong about TIW-projects
When I first met Eugen he explained to me the vision of TIW. My first associations were immediately influenced by well-known science-fiction novels. Countless opportunities in communication and security that would be feasible through such devices came to mind.
As an internationally experienced Manager I have become proficient in some languages, but I have frequently been on business trips to countries where I would not have been able to communicate with the locals through spoken word. It is quite unsettling when you feel yourself – in contrast to your familiar environment or supported by a translator - isolated and cut off from the ongoing conversation. This happened to me for example in Russia and Poland, in Libya and Morocco and even in Japan or China, especially when outside your comfortable business routine, in your free time on the streets, and even more so in places where people do not necessarily understand, let alone speak English. In extreme cases this may even let you doubt your own safety while traveling.
My first DROTR experience was the first time that I could directly talk from German to Russian - with Alexandr – and we could easily understand each other. We’ve talked quite a few times since then, several hours without any help from an interpreter. And it works! Of course it is still not perfect! Perfection is indeed very difficult to achieve, due to the special wording structures, idioms and other special expressions that are unique to this planet’s different languages. But doesn’t this happen as well in everyone’s daily life, when people talk to each other? There are misunderstandings, nuances, and dialects that affect communication. And DROTR is continuously learning in order to catch up quickly with our spoken word.
This world’s diversity of local languages, linked to our variety of cultures, relates to countless modes of expression, and is an accumulated heritage of mankind that must and can be sustained and preserved. We all believe that DROTR will connect people around the World and will enable local languages to survive alongside English as a global way of communication.
On this field the United Help Apps are more advanced than anything else that I’ve seen before. Therefore I trust that United Help with its technology will, together with our partners, make a valuable contribution to personal safety and means of communication.
We believe that especially in today’s global society this we will be able to make people feel happier and more comfortable with respect to themselves and their beloved.
So I am proud and very excited to be part of this team and to help ensure that TIW AG becomes a company with innovative products and services for our customers on a constantly improving quality and service level. On that basis we will be able to transform TIW AG into an international player with interesting brands – and of course economic success.
